Katheryn Winnick is the latest addition to the cast of Dean Devlin’s “Geostorm,” according to Deadline.
The sci-fi thiller is set in a world on the verge of an apocalyptic storm generated by climate-controlling satellites in space. The story follows a guy named Jake (Gerard Butler), who’s tasked with heading into outer space to stop it from happening. Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia, Ed Harris, and Jim Sturgess also star. Winnick will play Jake’s ex-wife.
Filming begins in New Orleans next month.
Winnick is best known for her current role as Lagertha on “Vikings,” while she has also had roles on “Nikita” and “Bones.” Her film credits include “Killers,” “Love & Other Drugs,” “Stand Up Guys” and most recently “The Art of the Steal.”
